General information about cookies

Cookies make the interaction between you and the website faster and easier.

ITS uses cookies to improve the user experience. This is done by the website “remembering” you, either for the duration of your visit (using a “session cookie”) or for repeated visits (using a “persistent cookie”).

Cookies have various tasks. They remember your preferences, allow you to navigate between pages more efficiently, generally improve your experience of the website and allow the website to find out what kind of information you are looking for.

If a website does not use cookies, it will think that you are a new visitor every time you go to a new page on the website. For example, you will not be able to remain logged in if you go from one page to another without a cookie that “remembers” your status.

ITS may also sometimes use cookies to be able to use targeted advertising or promotional messages based on your location and/or your search habits. We aim to give you better access to relevant information and to save you from information that is irrelevant to you.

Cookies can be set by our website (“first party cookies”). They can also be set by other websites that run content on the page you are viewing (“third party cookies”).

What is a browser cookie?

A cookie is a simple text file that is stored on your computer or mobile device by a website server. Only that server will be able to retrieve or read the contents of the cookie.

Each cookie is unique to your browser and will contain certain anonymous information, such as a unique identifier and some numbers and figures. This information allows our website to remember your preferences and which pages you have visited.

First party-cookies

First-party cookies are placed by the website you are visiting and can only be read by that site.

Third party-cookies

Third party cookies are placed by a company other than the owner of the website you are visiting. For example, this website uses Google Analytics which sets its own cookie to provide the service. The website you are visiting may also contain embedded content, from sites such as YouTube or Flickr, and these sites may set their own cookies.

By using “share” buttons on a website, a cookie may be set by the service you choose to share content with. ITS does not control the distribution of such cookies. You should review the relevant third party website for more information about these.

Session cookies

Session cookies are only stored temporarily during a browser session and are deleted from the user’s device when the browser is closed.

Persistent cookies

These types of cookies are stored on your computer for a certain period of time (usually a year or longer) and are not deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies are used when we need to know who you are for more than one browsing session. For example, we use these types of cookies to store your preferences so that the site remembers them for the next visit.

Why do we inform you about cookies?

All Swedish websites are required by law to inform users about which browser cookies are being placed or are available on the user’s equipment. The information must comply with the “Executive Order on Information and Consent Required in Case of Storing or Accessing Information in End-User Terminal Equipment”.

The regulation requires that the website obtains consent from the user when it stores browser cookies on the user’s IT equipment. You have given this consent by using our website.

How do I block or delete browser cookies?

It may seem intrusive for a website to store information on your computer or mobile device, especially when this information is stored and used by a third party. Although the purpose of storing cookies is usually innocent, for example, you may not want to receive advertising that is targeted to you according to your interests.

Therefore, it is possible to block some, or all, cookies if you wish, and even delete cookies that are already available. However, if you block or delete cookies, some of the functions of the website may be lost.

If you do not want to receive cookies, you can set your browser to notify you when cookies are sent to it or refuse to receive cookies at all. You can also delete existing cookies.

If you wish to restrict or block your browser from cookies on your device, in addition to the selected preference, you can do so via your browser settings. The help function of your browser can instruct you how to do this.

In Internet Explorer: Select Internet Options from the Tools menu. Click on Privacy and select Block all Cookies. Validate by clicking OK.

In Google Chrome: Select Settings. At the bottom of the page, click on Show Advanced Settings. In the “Privacy” section, click on Content settings and select Block all sites from storing information. Click OK to record.

In Firefox: Select Options from the Tools menu. Select the Privacy panel. In the History area, concerning the Storage rules option, select Use custom settings for history. Then set “Accept third-party cookies” to never. Click OK to close the “Options” window
